I had originally planned on entering this project in the SAQA exhibit "I'm Not Crazy," but life intervened. I was on schedule to get it finished by deadline time, but my Dad became gravely ill (and has since made a truly miraculous recovery). Between that horrible experience of almost losing my Dad and a once-in-a-lifetime, wonderful trip to Italy, I didn't get it finished by deadline. I've decided to go ahead and finish it. I have a lot of work in it so far; it still has a lot to go. (She will have red lips; they just haven't been added yet.)
Since I posted last, I have sewn down all the yoyos and all of the bias strips between the "hair/brain" sections. I am planning on cutting away the background--for it not to be a rectangle. For me, that presents a lot of problems...
- Outlining the entire piece (I want a black outline around the entire piece.)
- Figuring out a way to hang it so the "spikes" don't flop over
- Finishing (or not) the edges
