An Update

I am still trying to master the iPad app, Blogsy, to post my new blog entries, so please be patient with me. I took a picture of my latest project with my iPad. I haven't figured out how (and don't know if it is even possible) to use a flash with the iPad camera, so I apologize up front for the quality of the photo.

I had originally planned on entering this project in the SAQA exhibit "I'm Not Crazy," but life intervened. I was on schedule to get it finished by deadline time, but my Dad became gravely ill (and has since made a truly miraculous recovery). Between that horrible experience of almost losing my Dad and a once-in-a-lifetime, wonderful trip to Italy, I didn't get it finished by deadline. I've decided to go ahead and finish it. I have a lot of work in it so far; it still has a lot to go. (She will have red lips; they just haven't been added yet.)

Since I posted last, I have sewn down all the yoyos and all of the bias strips between the "hair/brain" sections. I am planning on cutting away the background--for it not to be a rectangle. For me, that presents a lot of problems...

  1. Outlining the entire piece (I want a black outline around the entire piece.)
  2. Figuring out a way to hang it so the "spikes" don't flop over
  3. Finishing (or not) the edges
Any ideas?

I'm Back!

I haven't posted for quite some time, and I apologize for that. I also want to preface this post by telling you I'm trying out a blogging app for the iPad called Blogsy. This is my first attempt to use it, so who knows how this post will turn out.

I haven't posted because I haven't really had anything to post; I haven't worked on anything for awhile now. My Dad has been VERY ill (he is much better and in rehab now), and I went on a wonderful trip to Munich, Lake Como, and Tuscany. I haven't been home to work in my studio since April 3. I'm hoping to get back into some type of artistic "work" schedule soon.

In the meantime, let me show you one of my favorite pictures from the trip. I LOVE the colors and hope to do some art pieces utilizing the colors I saw in Italy.

This is a picture from Lake Como.
